Natalie Barefoot is the associate director, practitioner in residence, and lecturer in law at the University of Miami School of Law’s Environmental Justice Clinic. She is the clinic’s supervising attorney managing cases and projects ranging from toxic torts to environmental policies and practices that inequitably affect low-income and minority communities in Florida. Natalie is also the executive director of Cet Law, where she works with whale-watching communities, governments, and nonprofits around the globe to further the protection of whales, dolphins, and porpoises and their ocean and freshwater habitats. Prior to Cet Law, Natalie worked at the United Nations Environment Programme, law firm Hogan Lovells, and international development organization Pact. She is a member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s World Commission on Environmental Law and on the World Cetacean Alliance’s Whale Heritage Steering Committee.
